The surface treatment processes of flanges are diverse, aiming to enhance the flanges' corrosion resistance, wear resistance, appearance, and service life. Here are some common surface treatment processes for flanges:

1. Galvanizing Process:

Overview: Galvanizing involves coating the surface of the flange with a layer of zinc to prevent rust and corrosion.

Classification: There are two types: hot galvanizing and electro-galvanizing. Hot galvanizing has a uniform coating thickness, strong adhesion, and good corrosion resistance, but it has higher energy consumption; electro-galvanizing has high production efficiency and low pollution, but the coating thickness is relatively thin.

2. Thermal Spraying Process:

Overview: Thermal spraying involves heating metal or metal alloy powders above their melting point and then spraying them onto the surface of the flange at high speed to form a uniform and dense coating.

Advantages: The coating has strong adhesion, good corrosion resistance, and adjustable coating thickness, meeting the needs of different applications.

Disadvantages: The equipment cost is high, and the powder utilization rate during the spraying process is low.

3. Electro-Plating Process:

Overview: Electro-plating involves immersing the flange in an electrolytic tank containing electro-plating paint, where the paint particles deposit on the flange surface to form a coating.

Advantages: The coating has strong corrosion resistance and adhesion, can form a uniform film, and is environmentally friendly.

Disadvantages: The color is relatively monotonous.

4. Surface Cleaning and Passivation Treatment:

Cleaning: Chemical cleaning (such as acid washing, alkali washing) or mechanical cleaning (such as sandblasting, polishing) is used to remove oil stains, oxide scales, and other impurities from the flange surface.

Passivation: The flange is immersed in nitric acid solution or a dedicated passivation solution to form a dense oxide film on the surface, improving corrosion resistance.

5. Electroplating Treatment:

Overview: Electroplating involves plating a layer of metal, such as nickel or chromium, on the surface of the flange to enhance its wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and decorative properties.

Common electroplating types: Electroplating nickel can improve corrosion resistance and surface smoothness; electroplating chromium can enhance wear resistance and surface hardness.

6. Spraying Treatment:

Overview: Spraying involves spraying a protective film on the surface of the flange, such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and ceramic coatings.

Advantages: The flange treated by spraying has excellent corrosion resistance, high-temperature resistance, and wear resistance, suitable for applications in extreme environments.

7. Other Processes:

Such as painting, rust prevention treatment, etc. These processes can be selected based on specific requirements and application scenarios.
